3 men suffer injuries as developers demolish building while residents sleep

Police arrested a man after he demolished a building while people slept inside.

An apartment building in Zhengzhou, China, was demolished before the residents who lived there were notified of the impending demolition.

The demolition occurred around 9:20 a.m. in Yang Zhuang. Unaware of the approaching bulldozers, three young men were hit by falling debris.

The three men were taken to a hospital for treatment. Luckily, no one was severely injured. One of the men suffered a broken foot.

“We were sleeping when a brick fell on my right foot. My roommates were also wounded,” said Xiao Mu.

An elderly woman, who lived on the ground floor of the demolished home, is grateful that she and her husband went out shopping early in the morning. “Otherwise we could have died from falling debris during the demolition,” she said.

The operator of the excavator was arrested by police for questioning.

Toon was found guilty of committing an indecent act in a public place, and was sentenced to 80 hours of community service. Toon admitted to looking at 27 adult websites on a school computer during a lunch break, but argued that it was not a public place. However, the judge disagreed, saying that anyone could have entered the room. Toon was immediately suspended and he later resigned. Toon was also accused of rape, but police did not file charges due to insufficient evidence.
